Interview Depth
Configure how many questions are asked in each interview.
Interview depth controls the length and thoroughness of the interview. Available depths depend on your plan.
Depth Levels

| Depth | Questions | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Light | 4 | Quick screening, high-volume roles |
| Standard | 6 | Most roles — balanced depth and candidate time |
| Deep | 8 | Senior roles, leadership positions |
| Custom | You choose | Any specific number based on your needs |
How Depth Works
When you select a depth, the question spine adjusts automatically:
- Increasing depth adds new question slots
- Decreasing depth triggers a confirmation modal since questions will be removed
- Custom lets you set any count using a slider
The depth and question count must always match. If you have 6 questions configured, the depth is Standard. The system enforces this — you cannot save a posting with a mismatch.
Impact on Interview Quality
More questions means more evidence for the scorer, but longer candidate time:
| Factor | More Questions | Fewer Questions |
|---|---|---|
| Competency coverage | Wider | More focused |
| Scoring evidence | Richer, more nuanced | Faster to generate |
| Candidate time | ~2-3 min per question | Shorter overall |
If your plan only includes certain depth levels, others appear locked on the posting form. Contact your administrator about upgrading or adding a Depth Unlock add-on.
