Competencies
AI Competency Generation
Let AI suggest competencies with full behavioral anchors based on your job description and context.
The AI competency generator analyzes your job description and optional context to suggest relevant competencies with complete behavioral anchors. This saves time while ensuring your framework is thorough and role-specific.
How to Use It

Enter or generate a job description first — the AI needs this as input
Click Generate Competencies with AI
Optionally provide additional context:
- Recruiter/hiring manager notes — what matters most for this role, team dynamics, key challenges (up to 5,000 characters)
- Upload a document — role descriptions, team wikis, or competency frameworks (PDF, DOC, or TXT). Documents are parsed in your browser and never stored on our servers.

What Gets Generated
Each suggestion includes:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The competency label |
| Category | Behavioral, technical, or situational |
| Description | What the competency measures |
| Behavioral anchors | All five levels defining what performance looks like at each score |
Generated competencies are saved as your organization's custom competencies. You can reuse them across postings, add them to profiles, and edit their anchors at any time.
Tips for Better Results
- Detailed JDs produce better suggestions. A two-sentence description generates generic competencies. A full JD with responsibilities, requirements, and context produces highly relevant ones.
- Use the context field to highlight what matters most. If the role requires comfort with ambiguity, say so. The AI weights suggestions based on your emphasis.
- Upload relevant documents like team charters, existing competency frameworks, or role expectations to give the AI more signal to work with.
